I'm sure we are going to be seeing these posts everywhere as the product begins to roll out, but this is my take on painting these strips of 13.5mm figures. I'm using my tried and tested 6mm method of dots and dashes of colours with good strong coverage, picked out of a flat black undercoat. A couple of images here all described in a step by step manner on my blog if you would care to take a look? Any comments or suggestions welcome. My starter box is due Tuesday so it looks like I'm going to be busy. My main aim here was to bang these out as quickly as possible while still achieving a half decent result. Cheers, Lee. link

Fine work and great advice – certainly works well for my 6mm and I see your work with the Warlord Epics is spectacular Would love to get them but I ready have ACW in 6mm, 15mm, 25mm and 54mm – and in 15mm it is in the several thousands, so I think I will stick to what I have! |

Very impressive brushwork. I took a similar approach with my 10mm Punic Wars which are also strips. I stopped off at my local gaming store and saw they had the box sets in stock. The box is pretty massive! Even tho I have painted 10mm ACWS armies and its really not a big interest of mine, I had to order the dang thing! I hope they give the "epic" treatment to other periods (AWI perhaps)? |

Thanks for the comments. Have to admit they are nice little figures I just WISH Warlord had produced a second sprue for the Union troops as I can't get past all those hats! I guess for the Western theatre they might work but the set is aimed towards Gettysburg judging by the buildings so I know I'm going to have to cut those down to kepis. Have done a test strip and it's not too bad but worth noting that the hard plastic/resin is quite resilient so good plastic sprue cutters are required, possibly a scalpel blade. In true scale ie not blown up as in the above photos they look OK. I'm going to paint another 4 strips today to see if I can get it down to about an hour per two strips then once all 5 bases are done I might even go through and add some quick highlights to the main coats and pants colours. Cheers, Lee. Jim Duncan – my starter set is scheduled for delivery tomorrow (Tuesday), I just hope I'm not overwhelmed by all that plastic! |

Very nice job on the miniatures. I too think the single infantry sprue is a little too much CSA looking to be generic. 😀 |

Just got my boxed set today! I love the painting method, the dots of colors over a black undercoat achieve a perfect outlining of details at this scale. They "pop" fantastically in 13.5mm when you have all the areas separated by black lines in between like you did. Great work! |

Baranovich – it's pretty exciting isn't it? I have been a wargamer/ painter for about 45 years and an ACW enthusiast for almost as long including a few years spent re enacting (42nd Pennsylvania- The Bucktails) back in the 90's so I really 'get' the period. I know the warlord Epics are not perfect but when you paint some up and line them up the mass effect is what makes them work. Enjoy yours:) I just updated my blog with more work on these and I have now added some selective highlights as described and I think they do add just a little more 'pop'? Cheers, Lee. link

Fantastic work, they're sure small compared to my 18mm. |
