"There's a lot to learn with miniature painting, and it's very easy to make mistakes because you don't realize you're making a mistake to begin with. With experience and practice you'll learn what the mistakes are and how to avoid them. However, today I thought I'd give beginners an advantage by revealing some of the most common mistakes so you never make them to begin with…" Full article here link Armand

Main advice I'd give people is not to read rubbish like this. It is blatant advertising thinly disguised as advice. |

I was trying to improve my painting and the Creative Twilight site answered many, many, many of my questions. I'm a big fan of the site |

I've never thought of signing and dating miniatures. Bit late to start that, I guess. I generally agree with the advice. |

Really??!?! Gawd, if I had read all this garbage when I started painting minis, I never would have started. I have been painting minis for nearly 50 years now and rarely, if EVER used any of these "tips". Maybe this stuff works fine if you looking for museum quality, I don't know, I paint for Wargame quality. A wet pallete, NEVER paint from the pot, hell. I shake the bottle, screw or pop off the top and use the small amount of paint left in the cap. I can often do all the black boots and headgear on a 12 figure battalion of 15s before I screw the cap back on, give the bottle a few vigorous shakes, and repeat the process with the next battalion. Also, I keep hearing people complaining about getting the ferrules all gummed up with paint residue. What are you guys doing, painting the ceiling while hanging upside down? How can you get that much paint in the ferrule. Use the TIP of the brush, not the whole frigging thing. The only time I fill the whole brush is when I'm painting LARGE items like terrain, buildings, etc. and then I usually use a cheapo disposable brush that I can gum up and toss when I'm done. Well, one man's meat is another man's poison. |
