Has anyone war gamed this setting? It's a sci fantasy space opera set in an
Interstellar war between a planet that uses technology and it's moon that uses magic. They stopped fighting in their near space(cold peace) and instead engage in battle on other planets and moons.

Link? My internet search skills are lacking on this one.

Very Interesting

Ah, the Saga Comics.
I read some a few years ago, but forgot about them lately.
So much stuff out there…

Thanks for the reminder, have to update my collection.

Regarding gaming, some colorfull stuff to kitbash, especially miniatures.
A Prince Robot IV shouldn't be to hard, some napoleonic uniform and a 70s portable TV on top.
Prince Robot IV on imagecomics.fandom.com
Exactly my thing.
I could even make an army of them!

Napoleonics afficinados would hate me, great fun.
Painstakingly researched and painted french guard with portable TVs in bright orange as heads.
Of course french guard!
Is there even anything else ?

Now, I sure can sculpt them, but that is rather time consuming.
So where do I find cheap and small portable TVs in 1/48?
Doll house furnitures?
Quite expensive, if they even exist.

I know they do.
I already checked.

I was planning mine in 15mm figures a mix of dark elves and horned samurai would make the Narrative easily, the Landfall Coalition would be generic scifi troopers just need to figure out the wings, when lacking a 3D printer. My big question is what rules to use. I was thinking Renegade Scout, Blaster and Bulkheads or Galactic Heroes. Thoughts?

Arjuna09 Mar 2021 10:18 a.m. PST

Sorry, but with that I can't help you.
I hate rules.
The less, the better.
So I press almost anything into Gaslight, Shock Force, Stargrunt or Future Commander since about the dawn of time.
I even have a copy of the first Space Fantasy rules I played lying around and can be seen in the twilight flipping through it grinning crazily, assembling an army of space slanns in my day dreams.

Rogue Trader 40K.

Yeah I'm that old.
And I haven't played since years.

Sherlockgeek09 Mar 2021 12:22 p.m. PST

Renegade Scout is modern redo of Rogue Trader designed to clean up the rules.

So you're suggesting I could support the wargaming community by buying another shiny rule set I won't use in my next three or four incarnations?

Have to talk with Krishna about that next time he is boring me to death again with his chatter about life, the universe and everything in the break of the replay game on that same battle field of Kurukshetra…

grin

Krishna to Arjuna in Peter Brooks Mahabharata on Youtube
Highly recommended play.
I should know.

I have that same issue. I am trying to find an ruleset to attract my fiancé that loves games they just "have to look cool". Theme is also something I need to figure out with her. I think Saga maybe a good fit so I am trying to get her to read the comics and was hoping some of you had idea.

Arjuna10 Mar 2021 9:53 a.m. PST

Yes, I know those strange creatures.
One of them is roaming the house right now.
And I have another two I were told they are my offspring.
As long as I provided everything, they used to push around some minis on the table with me and did strange things with them instead of letting them kill each other.
They claimed to prefer story driven games with miniatures.
More like RPG with more minis.
So it was a platoon formed by one squad each of Elves, Unicorns and Doom Bunnies roaming the country side, collecting gems and decimating miasmatic but peacefully rotting Nurgle Horrors, mumbling Mushroom Men or Orcs bickering just among themselves until those horrors from Candyland invaded their realm.
A variant was postapocalyptic girl gangs looking for sweets in decaying cities, killing of peacefully shambling Zombies, Wasteland Warriors or moribund Mutants.
Another two Variants of the same were one with Beaky Marines or some anthropomorphic minis from Team Frog Miniatures I think, against Aliens with or without tentacles and some Flintloque Toadie and/or Doggie factions against frozen Undead somewhere in the Witchlands.

And it is true, they loved Boardgames like Mice and Mystics or true Dungeon Crawler like Space Crusade but strangely not Space Hulk.
Too limited possibilities for action, I guess.

From time to time my girlfiend and I play Tail Feathers from Plaid Hat Games, sadly out of print I think.
I have three boxes for bigger games, but not painted.
I love the miniatures.
It is a pure two person, one against the other fantasy wargame camouflaged as Boardgame.
Simple rules, easy to learn, out of the box.
Another option is Mice and Mystics, also from Plaid Hat Games and also out of print, a strange mix of Dungeon Crawler and narrative driven RPG.
I hated it, they loved it.
The Miniatures are great, but the material they're made of is a little bit soft.
The same as Tail Feathers.

So I think the Saga Comic setting is a great idea.
I just told my girlfriend about the comic, she's interested.
Of course she is, there is a love story, strange people, heart wrenching side stories of little girls in need of a Bounty Hunter with a soft spot.
Colourful story driven narrative gaming.
A lot of potential.
Have fun!

I've just ordered a box of 1/72 Zvezda French HQ…
So old Bonnie will lose his napoleon soon and got a little 70s portable TV instead.

Sherlockgeek10 Mar 2021 4:41 p.m. PST

The irony is the Army I want to build would be the ones best suited to fight those TVs. I plan to get Dark Elves, a few sets of lizardmen, and Imperial Martians from Martian Empires to make a Narrative Army.

Arjuna11 Mar 2021 12:55 a.m. PST

Sounds great!

just need to figure out the wings

Search for acrylic angel or fairy wing beads.
They are about 18-20mm wide from tip to tip.
Simple sculpts, nothing fancy, but good enough.
Should go well with 15mm minis.
I have some 15mm Harpies from Demonworld and their wings are 22mm wide between the wing tips.
