I hope the title isn't a SPOILER. grin

Townsend's site is a goldmine for authentic 18th Century cooking, using 18th C recipes and utensils. I've had a few tasty recipes from him.
I was very interested to see this new one pop up today. I had just last night some steamed crab with a butter, wine and lemon dipping sauce.
An interesting factoid here. Crab and lobster were once considered food fit for nobody but prisoners and slaves.
Considering the recipe and reaction of John, Michael and the camera man, it's not surprising. I just wonder what made the recipe so vile?

Townsend's is a great channel. I'll have to check out this video for myself now.

My son showed me his show. He also told me about a guy who cooks from centuries old recipes, but I don't know his name. He talks about John Townsend sometimes.

I have been cooking his recipes for a while now. They are fun. My fav is the one from an 1806 recipe book for baked onions. let me see if I can reproduce it.

Take an onion.
Bake it.

Yes indeed. Complicated cuisine in Indiana 1806!

Errr…I didn't have anything to write that recipe on. Would you mind going over that again Brian?

Love the Townsends YouTube channel. His videos over the last 3 years are head and shoulders above his earlier stuff. Highly recommend people take a look.
