Hello all,

This is my first post,I'm relatively new to the hobby, having first picked up a brush maybe a year ago.
I'd like to share a figure I painted last night for feedback and tips if I may.

It is a gripping beast miniature of Alfred the great that I painted as an escape from my current Zulu war project.

All criticism is welcome as I'm trying to improve.

Cheers

Ryan

Can't help you with the criticism – looks great to me.

I would be very happy with that.

Dang good start. Keep it going.

Looks good already. May I suggest a few notches in the shield-rim?

Very good work! I would suggest that as Alfred was a king, try adding some golden trim to his tunic sleeves and maybe a fancier shield design. Something fit for a king!

I would be proud of painting that mini, better than I do.

Thank you all for the kind words, it motivates me to keep pushing and learning techniques, much appreciated.

Kitty and Perris, thanks for the suggestions, this was a one off to see if I could put my hand to the dark ages so I've flung him on flea bay to recoup and buy another couple of the very same.

The latest edition of WI has some guidance on shield chips, I'll definitely try that when they arrive.
As for the regal look, yep, I missed an opportunity, instead opting for a muted tone as I am experimenting with shading….next time for sure though.

Cheers

Ryan
