The biggest myth is that people walked around in beautiful vests and totally pearl white shirts and had the presence of mind to come up with really clever comments just before a duel to the death.

Your comment reminds me of the old western movies where men were always shaved and combed and very little dust accumulated after their day-long trips on horseback to be greeted by perfectly made up and groomed ladies just off finishing school. Also heroes (and some villains) just draw their six-shooters with one hand and hit their targets. Give me a break!
