From memory the Highland, charge did break through a couple of front rank regiments but then ran out of steam. Dragoons and Loyal Highland Militia were lapping round the Jacobite flanks, spelling doom for their cause, before we called it a day.

It's difficult to see how the Jacobites could have defeated Cumberland's army of seasoned veterans in a pitched battle like this.
