Hi All,

I am collecting a 1/1200 medieval naval fleet for the 'Lord of the Sea' rules for the four published scenarios (Sluys, Sandwich, Harfleur & Winchelsea).

I have a batch of the Ral Partha Empire Cogs finished (and more on the way…) as Medium Cogs.

I also have an order enquiry with Outpost for their (large) Cogs and Galleys (large Spanish?).

I am now considering sources for other Galleys, Cogs, Nefs, and Carracks and would welcome some advice?

As far as I am aware Navwar are the only other viable source (excluding GW mighty Empires – silly money on ebay), either from their Ancient or Renaissance range and there are no photos on the website for guidance.

How do the three different sizes of Navwar Galleys compare with the Outpost Galley in size?

Is their North European Cog the smaller Cog illustrated in the rules? Would these be closer to Nefs than the Ral Partha Cogs? The top-down 2D flats appear to make Nefs narrower in the beam….

Thanks in advance!
Wilf

I asked David Manley a similar question. He stated that the Real Partha and Outpost cogs mix quite nicely but the Navwar cogs are considerably smaller and make for good "small ships". He also pointed me to his blog posts on the subject:

I have a decent amount of the Outpost cogs and they are quite lovely little sculpts.

In the interest of saving others some trouble:

The Ral Partha Empire cogs referred to above are products for the Ral Partha Empires game made by Ral Partha Europe.

@ Prince Albert Revenge, Thanks for the advice. I have perused David's blog posts seeking clarification on Navwar ship types with photos. Just wanted to put two and two together.

@ Yellow Admiral, Appreciate your support in addressing my tardiness. They are indeed solid little sculpts that look quite presentable, 15 now completed (must take a photo soon).
