A massive winter storm is about to hit the US tonight and tomorrow. For the state of Texas, all 256 counties are in winter storm watch/warning; this is the first time in it's recorded history that it has ever had that.

Here in Indiana we are looking at 6-11" of snow tonight and tomorrow.
I'll be inside, downstairs in my man cave finally getting my painting projects ready to go.

Good luck to all. Stay safe and keep warm.

We are looking at 6 to 8 inches. Since I am "essential" I get to go in to work.

Way too Cold here in Houston – but Weather Service says the worst Houston had was back in 1895 – with 20 inches of snow over the 14th and 15h

It may rain on Monday, and then be partly cloudy for the rest of the week. Temperatures will reach, but not exceed, 60F.

These conditions typically result in widespread Seasonal Affective Disorder, and many San Francisco Bay Area residents will be spending the week sitting at home watching re-runs of Friends or The Big Bang Theory while drinking Chardonnay.

While that's a difficult time for them, it is expected to reduce community spread of covid-19, and to make the roads safer, so those clouds do have a silver lining.

Somehow, we will get through the winter.

Thresher0114 Feb 2021 9:17 p.m. PST

Cold and wet here, but only snow is in the mountains, luckily.

Best of luck to you all under more severe storm conditions.

Try to stay warm, and to get out and build a snowman, snow fort, etc., etc., while you can.

I love the snow if I don't have to commute in it on those icy roads.

Striker14 Feb 2021 9:38 p.m. PST

We're just in really cold temps.

KevinV14 Feb 2021 11:47 p.m. PST

20 below here in Winnipeg. No storms though.
Good luck.

Our prediction moved from 1-3 inches up to 6-8 inches by the end of tonight. Very cold, zero degrees low and single digit highs for St. Louis, MO. Winter is here. Good luck all!

We got ice.

Stay safe all. He in South Jersey we keep getting mixed bags of rain, ice and snow. Too much for this "old" guy to handle any more. Spring can't get here soon enough!

Got about 3" of snow yesterday which is about average for a KC snowfall. This morning it was -8 and with the windchill it was -27. Should be back to the teens tomorrow….

Started Saturday evening. Sunday morning there was a deceptive layer of "black ice" on the roads— looks like it's just a slightly damp road surface (hence the "black"), but really it's a slippery sheet that nothing's gonna grip on. (4-wheel drive just means that all four wheels spin, rather than just two.) Lots of wrecks in the area. We stayed home.
By evening there was a white layer of sleet over everything— looks like snow, but again it's just a layer of ice. I expect the local body shops will enjoy a massive profit windfall off of idiots and their insurance companies.
For the first time ever, we're seeing a 100% chance of snow predicted throughout the day today, but it hasn't started yet— now said to be hitting us at noon, and not stopping till tomorrow. Expect 1"-3" of snow. For some areas, that's nothing. For the South, it's a blizzard. EVERYTHING is closed, including some things that probably didn't realize it.
Staying in, enjoying my "Russian" spiced tea (aka "Freedom Tea" aka "Tang Tea"), and watching the white stuff come down.
It may shut us down, but it's beautiful when it comes.

About -8C here and expecting 15 – 20 cm of snow

It's Canada – no big thing

Nothing but blue skies and sunshine here in Arizona.
Although it did get down into the 50's last night. Brrrr…

Major Mike15 Feb 2021 9:07 a.m. PST

I live in Middle Tennessee and south of Nashville, we have about a tenth of an inch of ice this morning and even though it is around 24 degrees, we still are getting mist that is adding to the ice or sleet. They are saying 2-4" of snow where I live. So, we'll have snow with a layer of ice underneath.

Down here in "sunny" central Mississippi we've had freezing rain and sleet most of yesterday (Sunday) and this morning (Monday). Temps have been below freezing since Sunday morning and it is not supposed to get above freezing until Wednesday. All the roadways are frozen and parts of the Interstate through Jackson are closed because trucks can't get traction to get up the slopes!

My son was driving home from work last night and about 100 yards from our house, slid into a ditch. He wasn't hurt but it will be several days before we can get his car towed out due to the extremely icy roads.

This sort of weather isn't supposed to happen here in the deep south!

Central Texans woke up to 3-6" inches of snow this morning over the ice and sleet of the previous several days. It looked like the Christmas morning scene of "A Christmas Story."

Bashytubits15 Feb 2021 10:19 a.m. PST

Well here in Pope county Arkansas, it is freaking cold. 10 inches of snow in my yard and it is still coming down. This is the first snow I have seen since moving here. Oh, it is 7 degrees right now. I am currently singing we are having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave.

Expectin 8-13 inches here. Visibility from my 14th floor window is about 50 yards. Temp is 20 below with the wind chill.

Hey, Major Mike! You're in my neck of the woods. Greetings from the icy environs of Franklin!

Anyone near Chattanooga? I'm moving there in May. My daughter's family is in Winchester.

Shoveled the sidewalks of a corner lot down to concrete after lunch, but it's all covered again already, and two more snow storms predicted this week. I'm getting too old for this. I'd abandon Indiana and go live with the kids, but Nebraska isn't a noticeable improvement.

I think I'll go base 5mm Spartans.

Major Mike15 Feb 2021 3:19 p.m. PST

Wolfhag, you'll arrive in time to come to Nashcon in August!

Wolfhag15 Feb 2021 3:46 p.m. PST

Major Mike,
I've contacted them and put it on my calendar. See you soon?

DAMN!!!

Now you're all making me homesick!

Meanwhile, in Tampa, we hit 82 yesterday.

Seriously I hope everyone is safe and warm and comes through this with nothing more serious then being inconvenienced. The upside is probably would be very atmospheric for a retreat from Moscow scenario!

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP16 Feb 2021 9:08 a.m. PST

Snow is now about a foot deep overall and when I did my morning walk anyway--can you say "stubborn old kraut?"--it was above my knees in places.

I have cancelled all outdoor activities except for snow shoveling for today, and I have my doubts about the remainder of the week.

Waco Joe16 Feb 2021 2:27 p.m. PST

Third day without power and sub freezing temps and it is not looking good for the next couple of days as a new storm rolls in Tues/Wed. ERCOT, he agency that manages the Texas grid is in for a heap of questions as the governor is already calling for an investigation.

Too cold to spray prime, too dark to paint, no power for the 3d printer and my dog is having seizures.

This sucks

Tom Reed17 Feb 2021 8:46 a.m. PST

We got 10-11" here in Champaign County, IL. Closed most everything down on Tuesday so I got a good start on my latest 15mm scifi painting project.

It was a bit of a rough go getting to work today. The county highway was fine, the city streets sucked.

von Schwartz ver 217 Feb 2021 5:15 p.m. PST

The city streets EVERYWHERE always suck, regardless of the weather.

Bashytubits18 Feb 2021 10:47 a.m. PST

Well I took a tape measure and I have 15 inches of snow in my front yard. Tomorrow all this mess is going to start melting and boy won't that be fun.

My back yard looks like this. There's a creek back there, but no way am I walking back there right now.

von Schwartz ver 218 Feb 2021 3:33 p.m. PST

Beautiful backyard Bashy, reminds me of where I grew up in Minnesota alongside Minnehaha Creek.
Y'know, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and his poem, "The Song of Hiawatha".
