I am painting miniatures (infantry and cavalry) for both US Civil War and Plains wars. What paint color and manufacturer do you use for the light blue trousers? I can't see, to get it right. I got the very dark blue of the tunic down but can get the trousers right. I know the real color varied widely but am missing the mark. Thank you in advance. |

Curiously, when I was painting 15mm ACW and 25mm US cavalry for the Plains Indian wars, I found that the shades that looked good in one scale didn't look quite right in the other. Still don't understand that. As you noted, there was some variance. The 1889 regulations say, in effect, "Drop by the office, and we'll give you a swatch to match, if you want to bid on providing uniforms." All that said, I think I used Howard Hues Sky Blue on at least some of my figures. Grelber |

From a recommendation from a wargaming buddy, I use Delta Ceramcoat 'North Sea' blue for 15mm ACW Union. I think it works well.

you can try the Vallejo colors sky blue, Deep sky Blue and andrea Blue for the right shade. I use all three to show the color variation |
