It's amazing what the Finns were able to do with the Buffalo. When they flew it, it had the highest kill ratio of any plane in WW2. |

They were flying a different model, the 239, than what most others were flying. Here's a pilot story about the Buffalo that is fairly positive. link Here is an article on the Finnish planes. warbirdforum.com/faf.htm |

Such an ugly aircraft. I remember getting one in a model "three-pack" back in the day, in 1/72 scale. |

I recall a story about a Finn and his dog who stowed in the raft compartment of one of their Sky Pearls. As the pilot taxied the plane around, they fell out. Finn Buffaloes generally axed the raft to save weight. One Finn ace pasted beer bottle labels on his aircraft tail to tally his victories. skoal. |

They did know how to upgrade anything they flew and the Buffalo was no exception. They took Fokker D XXIs and Fiats and Caudrons and P36s and even Gladiators, Hurricanes, the list goes on…. Cool, I rarely have used since 1970, but the Finnish airforce was fairly professional….. |
