Hi all . Do we know if the Austrians flag standards had ribbons as well as a finial ? I've seen illustrations with and without , but more without . Either way was it standard to all arms ie. infantry ,grenzers, land where etc .
1809 ish . Cheers

The ribbons or 'cravates' were awarded to regiments as battle honours. Some line infantry and cavalry but I do not know about Grenzers etc. Therefore your standards should be a mix of filial with cords and filial with cords and cravates. As to which particular regiments had cravates, it will require checking on the individual regiments.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they were usually present on the battlefield.
