To counter the Viet Cong's guerrilla campaign, supported by the North Vietnamese army (NVA), raging inside South Vietnam, the Pentagon established a highly secretive special operations organization in 1964.

The Military Assistance Command Vietnam-Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was tasked with taking the fight to the enemy regardless of where they were. Cross-border operations in Cambodia, Laos, and North Vietnam—where US troops weren't supposed to be—became SOG's specialty.

True … I guess since I studied this and knew many Vietnam Vets when I was in ROTC and on active duty. So yes, it is history. And worth studying …

With Tango in the Dawghouse, we need summat.

This is hardly news of course. History, by definition, rarely is. My youngest son knows this, as he works for his PhD in ACW history. Try to find something new, esp when the Atlantic suddenly is as closed to researchers, as it was before Lindbergh or Alcock and Brown.

Yes … and new information is found or gets "released" occasionally too.
