Hi guys, what is the best methodology for applying static grass to 28mm figure bases with figure glued using a static grass applicator? Any advice is welcome. thanks, cheers! |

I just got one for Christmas and was wondering the same. I am not quite ready for first go – but I suspect just make sure you have a paper or something to catch the excess grass and be careful. Mine has a small sieve (maybe 60mm diameter) so seems designed for fairly specific application. |

Make tufts. I don't think they are really designed for doing a single base. To make a tuft use a dollar store cookie sheet and tape some parchment paper to it. Apply some blobs of white glue in whatever size and shape you want. Attach applicator ground to the cookie sheet. Use it applicator and make several sweeps over the glue. You can even mix grass. YouTube has many videos on this. I made about a 100 tufts my 1st time using mine. Hth,

I use my applicator on individual bases quite successfully. I clip the earth to a thin metal plate placed on top of newspaper to catch the grass. I apply the required glue, place the base on the plate and then shake on as required. Seems to work fine. |

For single figures, if I do it, I use a flock box. If you have the applicator you can make tufts like everyone said but I would say get self-adhesive floor glue, some acrylic cheapo paint, mix those and use instead of pva. Then you can peel off your own self-sticking tufts. I did about 6 sheets this summer and because they are cheap you can easily put many on one base. I found 10mm about the max so far that works but you can play around with it for colors and sizes. Making big blobs of grass is also cheap and fits a variety of basing projects. |

I find if you store the grass in a plastic container it accumulates enough static without using an applicator. Just apply patches of glue, dunk in the grass, then hold upside down over the box and tap firmly, and the grass all stands up nicely. |

Striker, what self adhesive floor glue do you use? |
