Just a quick note to say that Wellington At Bay by Garry David Willis might be worth considering for anyone wanting to play or just read about a smaller action. It covers a battle or rather, the central part of the French attempts to stop Wellington from retreating from Burgos in Spain in 1812.

A very detailed book which offers information, extracts and sources on the action, the battlefield, the commanders and the various units and troops involved. It highlights something I found when researching and writing up magazine articles covering Napoleonic battles and smaller actions, that accounts differ and often contradict each other. There is so much offered within this title that it basically offers almost everything a wargamer could ask for. Hopefully it will be the start of further titles covering smaller and lesser known action.

Yes indeed. An excellent book about a little known action and a good source of scenarios for wargaming. I highly recommend it as well.

I wholeheartedly agree!

Thank you all for your kind comments. It was really a labour of love. The project showed exactly how much information is available on even the smallest action.

Look out for my chapter on Maucune's division at Salamanca in Helion's forthcoming book "Glory is Fleeting"; link

GarryWills,

Great stuff! I don't wargame but really well-done presentation and commentary
