This is kind of a catch-up post. I have the bad habit of getting on here regularly for a month or two and then getting distracted for six months. So . . . I haven't posted in a while. But I did paint some.

I talked about all of this on my blog, of course, but I figure I'll repost it here in abbreviated form for those who don't follow my silly stories directly. The first bit was a patron's special from Curtis Fell over at Ramshackle that I discussed in a post called Pie in the Sky.

It consisted of a pizza chef, a carnival barker, some kitchen equipment, and a podium for the carnie to mount. I wanted to give the chef a sort of sweet look; to use him as the archetypal "gentle giant." So I gave him a heart tattoo that reads "mom" and some comfortable looking pajama pants.

I decided to model the carnival barker off Dick Van Dyke's character Bert from Mary Poppins.

Next off the painting desk were some civilians and adventurers I discussed in a post called Business is Picking Up.

A lot of folks will recall the Colony 87 Kickstarters, now available from Crooked Dice. The final installment included the three miniatures here: A food seller, two tourists I like to think of as elven honeymooners, and a pilot. These are really nice sculpts, though they're a bit more of a challenge to paint, since the detail is often quite small. (They look absolutely fine with the classic 80s miniatures that make up the bulk of my collection, possibly in part because people come in such a dizzying array of shapes and sizes. But little people are harder to paint well than big people. Fair warning.)

And last but not least were a bunch of characters of disparate origins, but quite complimentary styles. Two were fan commissions off a Facebook group, one was a special from an Oldhammer event, and the fourth is a classic Citadel Limited Edition. The sculpts have got to be thirty years apart. There are at least two, and possibly three different sculptors involved. And several different casting companies as well. But the new models are such loving recreations of that 80s style that I think they make an absolutely flawless group.

That'll be all for now, I think. Neat bunch of miniatures.

^^^Thank you Capt. Z. Characters are where it's at. :)

^^Thank you Paul. Though I recommend discretion with the c-word in hot-tempered frontier towns. ;-) (Especially when the typical resident is fairly well armed.)

^Thank you Oberlindes Sol! :)
