Hello

My wife is kindly trying to print some flags for me from the Warflag website (I am technologically illiterate). She is trying to resize the flags for 15mm figures, but is having trouble with the dated software. We would be grateful if someone could recommend a program that they have used to resize the flags, which is suitable for Windows 10.

Thank you

When you print them, just set your printer to print at 60%.

I suggest using MS publisher if you have it.
Save the Warflag picture on your computer.
Load it up on to Publisher.
Slide the picture about until it overlaps the ruler along the top of the computer screen.
Pull the picture about until the flag is about 12mm long.
Save
Then print.

You can probably do the same in WORD too.
If you have neither of those computer programs there are free (just like) versions.

If i can help you further then just e mail me (peterig@btinternet.com)

Computers can be a real pain.

I agree with the previous posts. MS Word works well for me.

Most recently I have been rebasing and reflagging my 15mm Austrian and French Napoleonic troops. Along with new additions there must be nigh on 2,000. How did that happen??

I save the flags to a page. Then copy and paste strips or columns of them in different sizes (45%, 50%, 55%, etc.) to establish the best size for my figures. My figures are from a variety of manufactures whose offerings are not necessarily height compatible. Age has its problems….

One issue is the part of the flag that wraps around the staff. It is not wide enough for cast flagpoles. Sometimes I can be bothered to add a bit extra by cutting and pasting. Sometimes I hide it by the way I hang the flags.

I think it is worth learning some simple tasks on a 'puter. You managed to post on TMP so you can do it. ;-)

Have fun.

I open in MS Paint, change the size (usually 55-60%) and save with a new name. Then open Word and insert images until I get the number need. Start with 4 or 5, print, cut and fold to see what fits. Rinse, repeat until you get what feels right

Check out Paint.Net, it's a free alternative to MS Paint with more features. getpaint.net You can easily resize any image by percentage.

Paint.net is also what I use. But I then copy and paste the flag into an already appropriately sized box in a Word document to get the size right.

Any software that you can copy the picture into, even Word, will do unless you want to changes colours etc.
I didn't adjust the size of the flag. When I printed it, I adjusted the print size on the printer settings. It seemed to help maintain the detail.
Make sure print settings are at whatever the highest quallity are.

Thank you everyone. Hopefully, the wife can work it out with those suggestions.

Open the picture in Paint.
Resize it to 60%.
Save as a Jpeg. (They are presently gifs)
Print.

I just resize them in the printer software. The ones that are unused go into a folder for possible future use.

I paste a page at a time into Paint

Use the select lasso on the exact border of the flag I want and copy

paste Into Word.

Right click on the image in word, and pick the "Size option"

On the Size tab you can put in a precise number of cm, in 0.1 (1mm) increments.

I prefer that to a % reduction, you get the exact size you want.

I have been using paintshop pro. When resizing to a smaller size I increase the number of dots/pixels per inch. So if reducing a flag with a resolution of 120 pixels by half I will double the number of pixels to 240. The it just depends on the resolution of your printer.

I have also done this with shield images.

Franco-Prussian War flags from Warflag and other sources reduced to 6mm scale. Photo is slightly out of focus. Flags are 11mm from end to end.
