"More than 150 years have passed, but the effects of what happened that day forever changed the history of Mexico. On February 2, 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed, whereby Mexico "sold" half of its territory to the United States. With this agreement the current states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, as well as part of Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming became part of the United States.
