My recent efforts in planning a modern-pulp game of capital intrigue has been placed on hold while I research figure availability. Clearing the decks so to speak, I made the mistake of watching Nate and Hayes last evening. That led me this morning to tracking down copies of Bully Hays South Sea Pirate by Basil Lubbock and Rascals in Paradise by James Michener. Knowing full well that I will resume painting the Pulp Figures Melanesian Warriors I acquired, (really excellent sculpts), I will of course want to paint a Bully Hayes. The reality:
The fantasy:
The motion picture:
I'm leaning toward the cigarette card look.(kind of like a cowboy in deck shoes.)Ladies and Gentlemen, any suggestions in 28mm? I will also be looking for a handful of Spanish troops of the cap and ball era in tropical clothing. Thank you. |

Okay, I have to add this one to the watch list. For a figure, I'd look at old west Mexicans that is where you'll find crossed gun belts and bandolier. |

I checked out Pulp Figures again, and they come close, but not quite on target.

We have a winner. Artizan Desperados AWW008. The figure on the left.
Kind of a cross between motion picture and fantasy. At any rate, I'd rather be painting than searching. |

Still, didn't you wonder why Tommy Lee Jones is wearing a bandolier of cartridges, when his Navy 1860 colt fires cap and ball? Prop department didn't communicate with wardrobe Also of note, he appears to be wearing a Confederate States Navy Buckle. Maybe he assisted CSS Shenandoah. |
