Just work in progress, based on the Heller GMC truck and the Academy closed cab version. The smaller truck, the Chevrolet G7107, I showed earlier, but I had to take off the wheel arches seen here.

The CCKWs mounting two 50 calibres were completely new to me, but, as soon as I saw some photos of them in Paris I just knew my GMC Bofors needed this as an escort. Just waiting on the Greenstuff to dry, decals to come from Brussels, dozens of crew needed etc.

but again WIP;

Very cool.

Interesting WIP pics! (your green putty sculpting is excellent)

Have you been able to get a good night sleep, now that you've corrected those fender arches? ;)

Hey DH, I've got a question – are your MG cooling lines from solid plastic rod, styrene tubing (or maybe surgical tubing) – just wondering what material you're using there?….as it looks good.

Very nice work. I can tell that you are someone who puts in the effort to have things right to which 99% of the people who see it will be oblivious.

I am one of those 99% in this case, but I admire your dedication and your work.

Thanks all.

The water cooled 50s were a challenge, esp as every photo in Paris shows the trucks swamped with pretty little Parisiennes, masking all the detail. Google helped and I married up the Academy 50s and tripods with black scrap plastic off an Esso Petrol Storage from an old railway model. Much brasswork off a 1/350 HMS Warspite (I never throw anything away….'er indoors knows that and has been known to complain). See the end of the muzzle? Summat off Warspite

Using medical equipment for modelling? I would never ever do that…ever….. but then, mind you. See the wire that now holds the rear view mirror? You know when you do a lumbar puncture and, once in, you withdraw the stilette and bin it? I always kept it. Incredible quality stainless steel.

The cooling lines are plastic rod combined with one of Mrs F's expensive scented candles. Three seconds near the flame, nothing happens. Four seconds the rod ignites and I hear many a complaint (indeed the smoke alarm went off once). I made over twelve to get four right.

The fender arches? I just could not leave them like that after seeing the photo. I risked it and they came off easily enough and were replaced with the Academy ones. That little truck is painted and finished, but I must disguise the cargo hold still. I think a cammo net to hide the four vertical struts that should be five.

I do need to get out more……

Hehehe……out more, but that's just dangerous.

Hey, I kept lots of stainless wire from when I was a dental technician, and before becoming an inner-occular, surgical instrument maker (so do appreciate technique…..and stellar scrounging anytime). ;)

OK, you know that feeling after a very prolonged Sunday lunch and then you watch God's own team beaten by Liverpool in what you folk call "Soccer"? You just have to get back to something like this.

I just knew the cab was sitting too high on the chassis, so I prised it off (breaking off one wheel in the process). The aerial recognition panel on the small truck is to disguise that the USA serials in blue lifted off, stuck to my thumb and then disintegrated. Other than that everything has gone without a hitch………I am going to do Dry February….probably on the 3rd of Feb, all day….maybe.

That's outsantding.
I even learned about the existence of that '50 HMG carrying truck, and of water cooled Ma-Deuces. Your paintjob on the finished trucks is great too.

Well the crew (Dan Tayler forage cap heads on Milicast resins and even two Airfix plastics) are almost ready for painting (bit of Greenstuff here and there) and then some better photography than a simple flash;

Next stop – Paris!?

You got it! There are some great B&W photos of these two Self Propelled Triple A vehicles at the Liberation. Today was Greenstuff on the crews and about a dozen other figures for an M4A3 and a Sherman of some kind (I forget and still get them mixed up) with HVSS.

The GMC Bofors I did know about but the 50 mounts on a GMC was a real surprise and not listed in my limited library on 2e DB.

and I did like "scrounging". I confess to much such activity (mostly of used kit, properly cleaned, but contrary to all Elfen Safety Regs of course.)
