The Chinese just sent a flight of 8 x nuclear-capable heavy bombers (H6K), and 4 x J-16 fighters into the ADIZ of Taiwan, in a large show of force. This is the largest incursion of heavy bombers to date – usually they just send 2 – 4 of them, with a larger fighter complement. I suspect the 13th aircraft was probably a command and control type plane, since I don't see it mentioned in some reports. link The USA sent in a carrier group, in response, for a show of support, but I doubt the Chinese hold much stock in that little demonstration. Could make for an interesting air game using the C21 rules, or others, if you care to assume the incursion goes deeper, and things get hot. |

AND, the Chinese did it again today. |

Wonder what they will say when 9 or 10 of the intruding planes get splashed inside of Taiwan's airspace? You can be sure there have been recordings/proof being amassed by ROC and US Navy for world consumption. |

Dye4Minis. It is not 1958. Modern democracies are extremely tolerant and avoid serious confrontation. No PLAAF jets will be splashed. Short of an amphibious invasion the decaying Taiwanese military will be kept on a tight leash. And even if PRC invaded Taiwan, don't expect a US military response. As I said before it is no longer 1958. |

I think they're trying to see what a Biden administration is willing to do to help Taiwan's defense. I would think they would go after Vietnam and the Philippines first, then Taiwan, but we'll see. If they see that the U.S. is not willing to commit forces or isn't interested, Taiwan could be in serious trouble. The issue with that kind of U.S. policy, however, is if Taiwan falls without the U.S. coming to its defense, Japan and Australia start building nuclear weapons the next day. |

The chicoms are not worried will take any action to support Taiwan. |

Arealdeadone. I know you are nearer to Taiwan than I am on the east coast of the USA, but have you ever been there…if so lately? I have 16 times as well as being stationed there in the late 1970's. I get daily updates from their (un-censored) news casts. It's not 1958 nor the late 1970's- it's 2021 and the world is truly a different place. If you haven't been following world events, socialism and the most popular tactic is death by a thousand cuts and is on the move all over. There still are many who refuse to just roll over and change their way of life- so expect to eventually see an equally heavy handed push-back and let's hope that cooler heads prevail on both sides so keep it controlled. Legion 4: Yes. So if you were going to act as an aggressor in world affairs to further promote your national goals, how would YOU handle it? I'd pick the low hanging fruit which also happens to be a chance to severely damage the world's s most powerful country on many levels and make my country (CCP China) look like the moral high ground. This is a place to discuss wargames and let's keep the discussion to that subject. Keep the politics to the Blue Fez, OK? |

I suspect that the Republic of China has nukes and that the Chicoms will be in for a rude awaking if (when) they decide to invade the Republic of China. |

Dye4minis. The US will not engage China who are communist on name only but are actually a fascist country with a massive corporate sector. Chinese economy is scheduled to overtake US one by 2028. |

Agreed … and may be before 2028. |

I suspect that the Republic of China has nukes and that the Chicoms will be in for a rude awaking if (when) they decide to invade the Republic of China. I don't think that Taiwan has nukes. That kind of massive program is hard to hide (especially in a democracy) and there is no point in nuclear deterrence if adversaries don't know you have nukes. Eg the Israeli nuclear weapons program is the worst kept secret on the planet. That's by design – no point the Israelis keeping their nukes totally secret as it would then act as a deterrent. So they allow certain information out to inform their adversaries. Finally Taiwan is well within the range of every single Chinese intelligence gathering system from aircraft to ships to satellites to land based systems and due to close ties is also infested with Chinese spies (as are other countries with close ties to China like Australia).
If Taiwan was to start a nuclear weapons program, it would probably trigger a massive Chinese military response with the Chinese goal to stop the program before it's completed. |

Fascist – Communist a distinction without a difference. Both are totalitarian slave states or, if you prefer, a big evil corporation without restrictions calling itself a government. |
