So I found a new vendor artist, on DriveThruRPG.com, Alyssa Faden. She makes B&W drawings, as well as color drawings, in large format graphics. They are not cheap, neither in quality, nor price. I know that I can take graphics to local business supply stores (OfficeMax and the like), and they will print them off, in color, for relatively little money (typically less than $20 USD for a poster-sized printout). I've added a few to my wish list, and I am considering pulling the trigger on one. Here is one sample image of her incredible work:
I think this would make an amazing poster to frame, and hang, in my game room. My hope is that I can put one, or more, of her amazing pieces of art up not only as decoration, but also as a map of a place within my campaign world. Her artwork stands out, beyond what I have collected already, in that she likes to add in clouds, making it all the more enticing to view, and imagine one's self walking the scenes depicted. Here are the details of the graphic, shown above: Map Type: PNG Dimensions: 5400 x 3600 Anybody done anything like this already? Any insights would be most welcome. Cheers! |

I do have a couple of old S&T game maps framed and on the wall. If you are going to have them printed up, you may want to check out frame sizes first. There is a real price jump between "off the shelf" frames and custom sizes. |

Planning to buy an inexpensive Miter/Chop Saw, later this year, for a construction project. The Chop Saw will cut routed pieces of picture frame wood, handily, at the required 45-degree angles. Plan on mounting the printouts to thin, plywood, cut to size, then gluing the cut frame pieces around the edges. If I plan on using the artwork for the game, I can get some thin Plexi-Glass and cut it to size for an overlay -- can write on it with water-erase pens. Nice little crafting project, which will give another return on the investment of the Chop Saw. Cheers! |
