Received my recent Thoroughbred "jewelry", um, make that – excellent 1/600th scale ACW miniatures order, and have enjoyed first painting up the two fort types seen here – single gun emplacements, and a 5-gun fort.

Toby from Thoroughbred gave my order prompt service (some models needing to be cast to order), but all arrived safe and sound.

The forts are painted to match, as best as possible, the colors of the river mat I'll eventually have printed out on vinyl, and to be played with the new Blood Sweat & Iron rules (the pics here taken on a paper printout from the imagery I'll be using for the tabletop mat's game theme – 'Up The Ole Yazoo'). ;)

Nicely painted, TB products are always top notch.

Very nice. I haven't got any in this scale.

Those look really nice. So nice that the absence of gun crews is very conspicuous. grin

We really need more options for 1/600 scale figures…

Agreed with everyone else here – Thoroughbred makes gorgeous miniatures. A really good paint job like this makes them irresistable.

Nicely painted. Thoroughbred does have great miniatures. I also have them and am wishing that Toby will produce more in 1/600 scale.

Guys, thanks for all your supportive comments!

I imagine gun crews could be sculpted connected to the sides of the cannon carriages (that would be an upgrade option I'd willingly pay a little extra for). As and 'option' too – afraid if I didn't already know better, I might just trim them off as flash. :)))

Nice work!

1/600 naval and fortress guns with the crew molded on are available from Peter Pig. Or you could use 3mm acw artillery crew available from Pico Armor which is what I did with my Thoroughbred batteries.

Jack, Frederick – TY too!

Oh my gosh, check out OldBackWater's crewed fort above……

OBW, that's fantastic looking!

I love the 3mm crew as well. Here is my contribution.

Bill, that's a great set of terrain pieces there, and the water in your Fort Hindman's moat looks wizard!

(btw, I consulted your articles in ACW Gamer before working on mine) :)

Hey, I didn't see that 3-gun fort in the current Thoroughbred catalog, so regret missing that.

OldBlackWater16 Jan 2021 3:00 p.m. PST

Water in moat very cool. The three gun battery is made by Peter Pig, not Thoroughbred.

I stand corrected, the three gun fort is a Peter Pig piece. FlyXwire, you should be able to find it on the PP site.

FlyXwire17 Jan 2021 7:12 a.m. PST

Hey, I can understand that, because this Peter Pig fort looks great, and easy-to-mix with Thoroughbred quality!
