Between gaming with my lad, Henry, in our the 1917 Western Front campaign and prepping for a future Ogaden War campaign, I thought I'd squeeze in a little 'mini project'; MiGs over Merklin.

Although I only needed 2 F-84s and 2 MiG-15s to recreate the 1953 incident when Lt. Warren Brown, USAF, was shot down by a Czechoslovak pilot, I decided to include a couple of Sabres too.

This was partly because I had plenty of Sabres knocking about, and partly because the 53rd Fighter Bomber Squadron took delivery of F-86s just six months after the dogfight, so it just expanded the possibilities a little bit.

Beautiful photos. I'm a big fan of the Wings At War series of rules. I also wanted to game the Ogaden war using Wings At War; I purchased the aircraft but couldn't find something suitable for Ethiopian decals in 1/600. Did you have any luck?

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

Revenge – you're in luck! Flight Deck Decals ( link ) do all three roundels in 1/600 for Ethiopia; 1941-1974, 1974-1998 and 1998 to present. They are lovely decals and go on smoothly, and a good turnaround, even for me in the UK.

Flight Deck Decals also do loads of decals for South America and Africa. I have various conflicts in mind for future projects – South African Border War, Football War, Indo-Pakistani War, Libyan-Egyptian War – and I can get all the decals I need from FDD.

Best wishes,

Nick

Thanks Nick! I appreciate you pointing me in their direction. I had no idea they existed nor the products they offered. I just placed a small order last night and anticipate future orders!
