Had another playtest of my upcoming SCW rules "Send Not To Know". A hard fought battle over some blasted ruins, all done over Skype. link

Looks like it works well with figures based for Peter Pig's "Bayonet and Ideology" |

@David Manley: You may have caught me out there. |

@John Snelling: Thanks. And I'd add that the collection of figures did indeed start with a couple of Peter Pig's boxed armies for BAIT, but I wanted to play games at a higher level than company. |

Nice looking game! I have a bunch of 20mm and some 10mm. I'd like to do bigger battles with 6 or 10mm. Thanks. John |

The rules I'm working on are for Divisional level games, with 2-3 brigades a side max. Ideal for the first 12-18 months of the war. |

That sounds VERY interesting! Thanks. John |

Follow the blog for regular updates. There's a Wargaming For Grown Ups Facebook page as well, although that is less active than I'd like as I don't seem to have the time to post to it. too busy working on the publication version of the rules. |

Looks and sounds great. I've got tons of the 20mm figs my friend Pat Condray sold, however 99.9% of them are still in the unpainted lead pile, even after all these years. I refuse to get rid of them as I really want to build these armies. Fascinating period! |

@Sgt Guinness: I don't think it's a period you can play without getting passionate about it. Start building. In 20mm put 2 figures on a 30mm or 40mm square base, 8 to a battalion plus a command stand. 3 battalions to a brigade. c50 figures in total, and you're half way to a starter game. Easy. |

@Trebian, I agree 100%! I'd never even considered building forces for the period until after I went to visit my buddy outside of Madrid for a few weeks in the 80's. I'd played in many of Pat's games and even helped to paint some of his figs, but didn't really feel it until I'd spent some time there and talked with the people. Even in the 80's the scars still ran very deep! We even had an incident with the Civil Guardia who were still wearing the same style head gear. |

Those hats. What are they supposed to be? You are right that its shadow still casts itself over the country. I've never visited Spain – too busy going to Italy and further afield – but I really need too. Especially now as it's harder for us Brits to get in! |

Looks great. I started building two SCW forces for Crossfire in 15mm. Infantry 3 on a 30mm square base, etc. These look the ticket for larger games with more vehicles. JohnG |

I'd be interested in seeing a "basic" OB so I can check if I need to paint up more troops from the lead mountain. JohnG |

A battalion sized unit under the rules consist of 6 bases of small arms two of MGs and one command stands, so 9 in total. Depending on the unit the MGs might have a mortar instead. Two bases = one company. One base of guns = 4 guns, and one tank = 3 tanks. Each side normally has two – three brigades, so that's 6 – 9 battalions, plus support weapons such as heavy mortars, field guns/howitzers armoured cars or tanks. |
