The final count.
Last months post TMP link

A big push in the last two weeks to get the ACW figures done. I'd been working on them bit by bit when I had extra paint so they were close to being finished.

All in all a successful year in painting. If I had been asked at any point after may how things were going I would have said not well. I find keeping track of these things help me remember the glass has been half full all along.

Thanks to all who have posted their efforts as well.

I'd love to see a picture of the "4 Thai gunners 40mm".

Two weeks of vacation brought me up to a total 112 '28mm equivalent' miniatures, bringing me up to 745 for the year, doubling my goal of 350 miniatures.

All told I painted 1248 pieces of various scales including vehicles and terrain. I started the year wanting to finish a couple of projects, but the pandemic sidetracked them. We'll see how 2021 goes!

2020 month by month painting log

I didn't do too well, in part because I got a pinched nerve, so my left hand has had problems. That is also the reason for any typos I've made this month in my comments on TMP. At any rate, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

In December, I painted 13 figures, Vikings mostly, but the Scots did get a standard as well. To set against that, I bought 24 human figures and three extra large figures.

For the year, I came out ahead, 202 humans purchased and 214 painted. To make things even better, I sold off 619 figures this year.

My records go back to mid-1975. Since then, I've purchased 18,746 figures and painted 10,232. It didn't occur to me to count the figures I'd sold off until 2009. Since then, I've sold off 1,529 figures. This leaves 6,885 hanging around waiting to be painted.

The owner of one blog I visit who is about my age figured out how many figures were in their lead pile, and they are trying to paint a fifth of them a year. For me, that would mean painting 1,377 figures a year, even if I didn't buy any more.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how to take care of my unpainted pile--probably more sell offs, undoubtedly more painting, maybe sending some figures to Sri Lanka to be painted--we'll see.

Finished another 12 pulp figures this month.

Purchased: 293
Painted: 244
Sold: 178

YTD Lead pile reduction: 129

All in all not bad for the year. Currently selling off quite a few NIB models and terrain kits on ebay. More painted and unpainted figures will go this coming year as I eliminate projects. I don't expect to be online or TMP much anymore as I plan to trim back my screen time.

Good luck to everyone attempting to reduce your lead mountains in the new year!

I do not believe in "The Pledge". It's blasphemy.

December wasn't very good, but I've done well enough over the year. One ancient Indian army completed; 189 infantry, 20 cavalry, 5 elephants, 1 chariot. Plus 20 misc. cavalry, and about 16 "Celt-Iberian" infantry. Bought 6 elephants, of which three are included above, and about 15 plastic Saxon infantry.

My Indians are short of a chariot or two, and I have just bought another elephant, but they barely fit on the table as it is!

I also counted the unpainted figures – over 1000 (metal only)

"The Pledge" is done so that at the end of the year when someone asks "where did this year go?" I can say I added 217 figures to my collection or I spent about 150 hours applying acrylic to lead with my head held high.

I painted 198 figures this year, just over half last year's total. I didn't buy any figures at all but bought one IKEA plastic houseplant (£1) to cut up for terrain use.

December wasn't bad considering my wife buys me a lot of figures for Christmas. I have lost the figures but ended in the positive column for the month.
for the year I ended:
painted= 3393
bought= 1906
so profit of 1487
all in all a good year
