I saw this ad on Facebook. Does anybody know if it is for real or some kind of scam? link |

I don't have a clue, but they're available for almost free at Dollar Tree, and no need to worry about a scam. Some of the packs have 2, and one I saw had 5 in it, so that price is very hard to beat. Don't know if they are any good (I suspect not), but I plan on using them for painting and washing/drybrushing terrain, so they don't have to be. |

Note you do have to pay shipping and handling. Handling fees are where they get you :) |

As Zulupaul said "You get hat you pay for"! |

I've discovered lots of fraudulent Chinese companies selling on Facebook. |

I buy a 30-pack from Wal-Mart: $1.20 USD, or 4 cents per brush. I use them to paint on Minwax Polyshades urethane stain, aka, The Dip. They have plastic bristles, plastic handle, and the bristles very rarely come out. I throw them out when I'm done. Perfect for my application! Cheers! |

I bought some paint brushes from Amazon. Great price but terrible brushes. The bristles would come out when I cleaned them . They are good for four or five uses then become disposable. |

I wish my walmart sold brushes for 30 for a $1.20 USD |

Well, my Wally World brushes aren't 4 cents per brush but they are very affordable at about $3.97 USD-$5.97 for a pack of 4 to 6 fine point detail brushes. Take decent care and they will last you a good long time. I have used both expensive brushes $8 USD-$12 per brush and these little babies, both work just as well and last just as long with minimal appropriate care. Clean them thoroughly after use, get the paint out of the ferrule, gently wipe off excess water or solvent, point them, and stick them into a chunk of styrofoam, bristles up, and let them air dry. I think Sgt Slags's 4 cents a piece brushes might be the foam brushes used with some varnishes or the cheapy cheapy brushes used by K-4 grade school kids. |

Similar here. I gave up buying expensive brushes a couple of years ago. In the UK there is The Works, that sells a pack of fine point brushes for two quid. I bought a couple of packs and have only used two, both of which are still like new. For large areas I bought a big pack of evilBay for a fiver including postage. Again, working well. |

Sorry, I should have posted this link to the Wal-Mart brushes I was referring to, a long time ago. Like I said, I use these for applying The Dip, and Magic Wash -- then I throw them out. They're not really useful for applying paint to miniatures, but they will work on some terrain pieces, but they're actually quite small in the bristle head. Cheers! |

Don't look now Sarge, but your age is showing (smile). Thats like me saying "I remember when Eskimo Pies were $.10 USD." |

Here, in Glasgow, those of a certain age can say, "We remember when 'Penny Caramels' did cost a penny".But we ain't got the teeth for them now. For what it's worth, I'm of the von Schwartz/Jeffers position with regard to cheap brushes carefully used ( you can even have a separate brush for each colour ), though I will use sable for painting in oils; much more subtle gradations but ages to dry. |
