To my mind this unit is the most underrated brigade in the Civil War. It fought in practically every battle in the West eventually surrendering at Spanish Fort with just a handful of survivors. Yet I can find little primary source material on it. It seems to have been bottom of the pile when uniforms were handed out. Notably ragged even by Confederate standards they seem to have been outfitted in whatever was at hand.I can find no models down at heel enough to paint up accurately. Any ideas? At the moment I am using Timecast models a British firm but would like a USA option if possible.

Do you have Ector's Texas Brigade and the Army of Tennessee 1862-1865 by David V Stroud? If nothing else the bibliography will point you to a wealth of primary sources.

I'm not sure you are going to find many uniform references.

Timecast? Are those 15mm Old Glory?

In 15mm, Peter Pig has a code of bare foot Rebs advancing and Stone Mountain miniatures has two packs of Ragged Rebs. But this new range of Ragged Rebs from Armcaster Studio caught my eye although I'm not sure about availability. TMP link

Thanks for those suggestions. Cleburne that book is just what I am looking for, thank you. I am slightly embarrassed to have never come across it before. Though to be fair it looks around 20 years old and out of print. I found a second hand copy on Abebooks.
