Who needs a 4ft x 2ft Crusader Castle, Yarkshire Gamer of course ! Big Games with lots of toys, it's what we do.

I've done a video review of the castle to give you an idea about the model and putting it together, plus the usual raft of pics on the blog post link.

I think it looks great as is, but I would like to paint it up to look like the Crac des Chevalier in Syria, any terrain builders out there with any tips on how to get that effect.

If you paint it, seal it, first, with sanding sealer -- everywhere! MDF needs to be properly sealed before you paint, or it will give bad results…

The plants can be simulated with tufts of green yarn (both acrylic and wool will work, but acrylic is cheaper). Attach it with PVA Glue, applying it sparingly, teasing it into formation, with a tweezers.

I would skip the painting, applying yarn tufts, for the Syrian look. It should turn out more gorgeous than it already is! Cheers!

I like castles of all types! Here's a picture of the Samurai castle we are working on. The keep, which I'm currently printing, will go in the back section and cover 3 x 3 "blocks." The STL files are from 3Dalienworlds and are quite beautiful. I do the printing and my brother does the painting as he's the samurai buff. It's roughly 3 feet (960mm to be precise) across and a bit over 2ft (720mm) deep.
