Cool. I loved the Gil Gerard series as a kid. I hope they don't screw this up.

One of the good things about the old '79 series was that it didn't take itself too seriously.

The Jury's still out on whether any modern producer can pull that off…

And Erin Gray as Colonel Wilma was an inspiring choice…

All I ask is: "Get rid of Twiki."

Watched it as a kid. Caught an episode about a year ago as I was flipping channels so I watched until I couldn't stand it anymore; complete garbage; but I liked it as a kid.

A lot of those old shows have not aged well. I watched the original Battlestar Galactica as a kid & loved it. Watching it now I realize how campy it actually was.

Damon.

Too bad they won't be able to have "Brigadier Gordon" do a guest appearance.

The first season of Buck Rodgers was slightly tongue in cheek and was a fun fast paced adventure.
Season Two they wanted to do relevant things and the show as not nearly as good. Twiki and Dr. Theopolus were great characters IMHO. The new robot in Season Two was awful and so were most of the new characters.

I have low expectations for any new version.

Makes you wonder how our grandkids will feel about what our kids are being brought up on. My kids never watched the Batman TV series, but did watch the Dark Knight trilogy. So how will the next generation Batman be "reimagined/rebooted".

Now, my kids have watched and liked Hogan's Heroes, MASH and Gilligan's Island. So aging well is possible.

Woke Rogers, anyone??

The idea that every show has to have a moral message is what is wrong with current TV and Movies.
You cannot find a TV show not affected by attempts to support BLM or other social causes. I now only watch five hours of TV each week on networks. My viewing hours are still there but a lot of classic TV.

Yes Buck and BSG were campy but they were straight forward fun as were UNCLE and many others.

I would love to see a reboot of Buck Rogers, but like RudyNelson, I would hate to see it be yet another dark, angst-filled moral soup with brooding characters and call-outs to contemporary moral dilemmas. Just make it fun!

Well stated. And most plots and characters are retreads of what's already been made. It would be nice to have something original and creative. An adventure story without all the symbolism of contemporary themes.

Plus one on Erin Gray.

RudyNelson you hit the nail on the head why I don't watch TV any more and pretty much stay with older series or just anime alone.

A new Buck Rogers would be nice, but I don't have my hopes up.

Have Buck Rogers In The 25th Century be as successful as Star Trek
