Here is a female Vietnamese farmer planting rice. The figure is from Full Metal Miniatures.

I hate to say it but the availability of really nice figures for this period is setting a hook in me.

Can anyone speak to how well figures from Gringo 40's, Empress Miniatures, Full Metal Miniatures and The Assault Group go together scalewise?

Thanks

My family planted rice one morning while working at a non-profit in rural Thailand.

It's way harder work than teaching English!

KSmyth Empress is more slender then Full Metal Miniatures.

In the picture above left to right, Empress Full Metal Miniatures Empress. The hight of the figures match but the FMM are chunkier.

The Gringo 40 figures are much bigger. Might work together with Empress Marines but the VC/NVA from Gringo40 are much bigger then the Empress ones. sorry no picture..

All look pretty good ! But CIA types never wore suits in the bush. But more like in places like the Embassy, etc.

Like you, I immediately though he was CIA. I then learnt he is a local "businessman". I would love to see him in a white suit, which is incredibly tacky (but seems right)

The civilian range are a great idea and very well executed.
Sizewise.

Gringos 40 are 1/48 I think. Taller and chunkier than Empress, which I think are nearer to 1/56 (and that is quite a difference)

For Full Metal Miniatures I only have the photographer (Catherine Leroy and superbly done. She was petite and appears so) and the stretcher party. The Marines are bigger than Gringos40 actually. What they have done is make the VN figures that bit smaller than the US Marines.

All three ranges have their fans. But I personally could not mix Empress with the other two….not side by side anyway. I have used Empress figures in the background to Gringos, for dioramas such as the Dong Ba Tower

Sure … he wants you to think he is a local "businessman" …
