Is this a real game? Has anyone here played it and what did you think? |

Glad you like it my good friend! (smile) It's a real game… some nerds played with it… not me…. (smile)

Oh, it's a real game all right. Kind of like quidditch. |

The game was invented because science fiction fans have always considered themselves more intelligent than mere mortals. Mr Spock was the epitome of the super smart science fiction fan. Chess was considered not brainy enough for Mr Spock, so this silly spectacle had to be invented. Have I insulted enough people yet? |

That's the Franklin Mint version. I used to own it and yes, there were rules to make a playable game. I never got to play it. I gave it to a friend whom I know loved it more so than I did. |

It's definitely a real game. It was put in Star trek to demonstrate how the crew learned 3D space tactics. Star trek fans came up with various sets of rules but a fighter pilot realised it could be used to teach aerial combat and wrote a set of rules, now widely played by chess players and Star trek fans: The World Tri Dimensional Chess Federation. |
