By all accounts the new admin will seek an easing of tensions with Beijing even as the new CW is a reality. Not a bad thing considering that, even during the nadir of the previous CW, the US maintained a "hot-line" and communication channels with the Soviets to minimize the chances of it turning hot.

US direction will be interesting. Obama/Biden preferred to let the Chinese do as they please and even prevented US military officers from discussing Chinese military operations in SC Sea and elsewhere.

Biden has since changed his rhetoric to be more aggressive but I don't know if this is a permanent change in outlook.

"Easing of tensions" will essentially be capitulation to China. The Chinese have a very overt agenda and actively seek to topple US power through all means – economic, military and diplomatic.

The Chinese objective is nothing less than turning the world into tributary states (One Belt One Road being the lead element of this).

If the US starts easing tensions, the Chinese will see this as an opportunity and fill whatever void the US creates.

This guarantees a Chinese dominated Asia. It will eventually guarantee a Chinese dominated world.
