10 limbers, a scratch built caisson ( That might be better in scale for 1/72) and as I have for my Russians a engineer wagon. The front limber is scratch built from long ago, should have remade it. 3 of the old limber sets are from almost 40 years ago and I haven't remade them. |

4th set from front was first attempt before assistance on a 6 horse team, harness lines are not correct as I understand them now. I will use 6 horse teams for 12pdrs, 4 horse teams for 6pdrs. I put a gun stand on trail end of stand when battery is lumbered, unlimbered the rest of the battery gets put on table and limber stand gets to clog up area behind the battery. Might need 2 more as goal is 1 limber for each battery on game board. |

Very nice indeed. I'm conflicted(!) on the 6 horse teams myself. Like you I invested heavily in 'good looking' games even when rules didn't account for limbers, trains etc. So I have all the completed of those I need. I'll never need all artillery companies on a games table again either, so no need for 1:1 for supports etc. In fact I've started 'cheating' already, dropping 'some' new formations batteries to half size just like they did in the campaigns! Salutations! Bring on the Marschal… d |

The latest addition of a few more I am working on. 10 will only cover 1 Corp and usually field 2. So by my reading the Prussian Horse batteries ( Reitende #11 &12) had British pieces and kit, so hijacked a British limber which didn't get the model I wanted so had to modify it. Though would be used for one of the two appropriate batteries just use the limbers as generic if needed elsewhere.

As with my Russians this is end of a year long project where I had only 6 limbers now have 18. Shouldn't need more limbers but only have 1 homemade caisson and want quite a few. 14Bore | 01 May 2021 2:58 p.m. PST |

Did see a note on link That the Prussians color coordinate their horses on limbers and I didn't. I use 1 limber to represent the whole battery but still would have helped on a game board. |

I do have to say that I am now impressed by anyone who has the patience to recreate a gun battery with its train. Most will just show the gunline. This is very impressive indeed I was curious about your British limber. It seems to have started out as a Light 6pdr bracket trail, an early design. What you have done is convert it to the later model, with the offset limber shafts. The result is a nice hybrid of the limber and the caisson, which could be towed instead of a gun behind the limber. The limber/caisson pair is not often seen in models but makes and attractive combination I feel, something I tried years ago in 28mm

Nice modelling and low angle photography Mr. D. I recognise the wheat from your kind tutorial years ago. Best wishes, Chris |

Thanks. Much easier in 28mm 14 Bore has achieved wonders in what I think is 15/18mm. |

Probably my last Prussian, yes in 15mm, vehicle. May have outdid myself. The front pair of oxen had no collars like all the others just plain cattle. So got to those last as wasn't sure what to do with them. So I made ox yoke and real ox bows that would be how they really work. Used aluminum wire and drilled through the ox yoke. The hay is hemp rope cut it very small bits and glued layers building the hay stack. Have another wagon but think to make it civilian or my British allies have no wagons yet. I still need a human figure |
