Interesting read. As the saying goes, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. With all the fingerpointing after Shiloh, a captain would be a pretty easy mark to lay blame on. |

Also another hard-luck unit at Shiloh from Ohio( 71st)and it's commander,Col. Rodney Mason along all but one company boss,wound up being cashiered for misbehavior before the enemy. The unit was later sent into Kentucky to deal with guerrilla activity,and salvaged their pride . |
