I'm building a US armored rifle company mainly using Battlefront minis, however it turns out I've become somewhat of a stickler for historical accuracy. BF minis are generally ok or even good in my view but for some reason the platoon packs (new plastic ones) contain a bunch of Thompson guns and BARs which were typically not used in AR platoons, while lacking a few M1 carbines as well as a scoped M1903 Springfield for the platoon sharpshooter. And I've had absolutely no success in finding the latter. I've looked through various suppliers based on mentions on these boards and other places: PSC – have figures with scoped M1903, I even ordered these but the minis lack some of the kit on the BF ones and, more importantly, look like little kids beside them so they're unfortunately useless to me. Skytrex – they have M1 carbine figures and some others which seem as good as or better than BFs plastic ones, so I'm probably going to get some of these (although the poor image resolution on the home page means I have little clue about the quality of the sculpts). But they have no scoped Springfields. Peter Pig – no army snipers but a USMC one. But to me the sculpts look chunky, ill-proportioned and IMO downright ugly. Essex – no scoped M1903 figures. I've also looked at the BF US para snipers, which appear to be the only US sniper minis they've released, thinking I could convert them to look like regular infantry. But they appear to be quite impossible to get hold of. Does anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for? Or have some other good solution for this? (I'm aware that platoon sharpshooters may not always have been issued the M1903, but I'd like to set this up as close to the T/O&E as possible.) |

The BF UD Snipers are in the Normandy Uniform and noticeable in the one I painted but let me find the unpainted ones and check those, as they had 2 or 3 different poses in the set. |

Thanks VonBlucher, I'm not familiar with the term "Normandy Uniform", is it the same as the M42 "Jump uniform" worn by paratroopers? |

Yes the M42 uniform was worn at Normandy, and supposedly I think one Battalion was still wearing it at Market Garden. I haven't found the unpainted ones yet though. |

Well you can tell the uniform is M42 for Paratroopers, the spotter has an M1 and the sniper has a scoped M1903 Spingfield Rifle, (you can see the bolt, very clearly). These were a special order items direct from Battlefront. |
