"French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821) encounters a young English sailor trying to reach home from Boulogne in an improvised coracle during the Napoleonic Wars, circa 1805. The story goes that he was so impressed by the boy's courage, that he arranged for his safe passage back to England. An illustration for the poem 'Napoleon and the English Sailor Boy' by Thomas Campbell…"
