"The aftermath of the Texas Revolution brought with it increased political turmoil that nearly resulted in the upstart nations descent into anarchy. Disagreements between various political leaders on how to handle the Republic of the Rio Grandes demand to claim ownership of the Nueces Strip resulted in various factions forming across the Republic of Texas who began acting independently of the government of Sam Houston. This nearly resulted in both a war with the United States over the annexation of the Louisiana Neutral Ground and an additional war with Mexico over Texan factions funding the filibusterer William Walker. Eventually during a constitutional convention in 1842 these tensions boiled over and resulted in several Texan colonies splitting from the Republic of Texas and the recreation of two additional Republics founded by veterans of previous rebellions which occurred before the Texas Revolution…"
