We've all said it.

We've all actually done it, too. (Right?)

So, a couple years ago, SWMBO had some kitchen grip mats … the stuff you line shelves and drawers with … in excess after we did the shelf/drawer project. So she asked if I wanted it. "Yeah. I can use that."

And I did. I glued some on top of various floor surfaces to make a scifi interior nonskid floor. Nice, easy textured surface with a good look. And it was actually nonskid. Which led me to making some scifi ramps with it too.

Fast forward to 30 minutes ago. SWMBO said she wished she had a cuttingboard that didn't slide on the counter when she applied pressure. What could I do but oblige, especially since she was cutting sweet potato fries for the last half of watching El Classico (1-1 at the half)?

I went to the crap … er … craft room and got the remaining strips of grip mat (you didn't think I threw out scraps, now did you?) and custom cut two bits, one for each of the cuttingboards. After they come out of the dishwasher tomorrow, I will glue them on under pressure (boxes of unpainted lead, perhaps?).

Achievement Unlocked!

OK … your turn …

Win, win, win. You don't get that often !

I once watched my Grand-daughter painting her fingernails while using "Nail Art Hollow Stencil Template Stickers."

Yes, a mouth full but I took a few and wrapped the things (tightly and in all the creases) around some of my Saga Irish and painted designs I never could have done by free hand.

Won't they cease to be dishwasher safe?

You can also use the shelf liner in your troop boxes to keep the movement bases from sliding around.

But you coming to your wife's rescue is priceless!

That's inspiring!

You can buy those at the dollar store, too.

You can also use them to designate woods, brush, rough terrain, etc.

Well, I'm going to use the waterproof industrial adhesive that I use on boats. Not mini boats … actual small craft. Plus, if it doesn't hold, the worst thing is the grip mat will fall off and we'll just have to lay them down first, then the cuttingboard on top.

You can also use the shelf liner in your troop boxes to keep the movement bases from sliding around.

That is a great idea. I'm stealing it.

Nail Art Hollow Stencil Template Stickers

I've not used nail air templates, but I have used nail art waterslide decals. I got a ton of Japanese and Chinese symbols that worked well on shields, as well as lots of animal shapes.

I'm concerned the mat could melt and gum up the outflow. Try to find out the internal operation temp, then subject a sample to water heated to that temp.

Now THATS an idea I can use!

skipper John – so one would paint a base colour, apply the sticker and do the top colour, then remove the sticker, hopefully w/o taking away any paint?

Are the stickers "one use"?

Every visit I make to Michaels I see something that I could use for gaming as vehicles, terrain, figure bases or status markers.

Here are some pictures of "rubberized" shelf liner uses:

And lining a box of WoW/WoG bi-planes

Being used to delineate pieces of rough terrain during a Victorian colonial game.

These ideas are free for the copying!

Mesh from fly screens works great for forest floors as well as it tends to look like shade.

von Schwartz26 Oct 2020 5:14 p.m. PST

I LIKE the idea of using them to delineate different types of terrain, find some green for brushy fields and brown .
But, I have one teeny weeny question, why did you decide to use purple?

HMS Exeter26 Oct 2020 6:37 p.m. PST

Mauve?

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP28 Oct 2020 9:49 p.m. PST

Mauve, don't you know, was a very popular color for African swamps in Victorian times, old boy!

Test complete.

I just cut a couple of small bits and put them inside and outside a shotglass, then ran it through the washer. No melting at all after high temp wash and high heat dry.

Now my inner military analyst kicks in and I want to do an experimental design matrix covering all the possible test conditions …

Instead, I'm going to tell SWMBO she can wash them in the dishwasher.

Used to date a called named Mauve.
