Small playing area. Playing FoW on a 12x6 or larger table changes the nature of that game a lot.

Maybe the logarithmic ground scale doesn't help, especially with a larger table.

I agree with the above, I wonder if playing with 6mm figures using CM in stead of inches would make a difference?
