…Chinese Islands "The Marine Corps is moving quickly to develop a new kind of infantry unit to challenge Chinese claims on small islands in the Pacific, while the Navy is developing new and smaller ships to move and supply them once they deploy. The new Littoral Regiments won't be fully fleshed out for several years, but Marine Corps leaders said today they will be bolstered by logistics and air defense battalions once they're ready to go…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

I think they should come up with a "Leadership Decapitation Company" to really give our opponents something to think and worry about too. Also, perhaps publish a "Gourmet Recipe Book for Anti-Communist Anarchists", with delicious, poisoned recipes for Presidents for Life, and other high communist/socialist party leaders. Make that freely available on the web, for downloading, and make sure the Chi-coms can't block it. If they do, drop leaflets of that via balloons, just for grins. Real, or not, they'll have to react, and defend against it. Embrace and use Sun Tzu's tactics against them. |

If they were trying to poison Fidel Castro and even make his beard fall out anything is possible… Seriously, I'm sure people are working on contingencies to remove key individuals from power by fair means all foul. However, the US has always preferred maintaining stability over chaos especially where nuclear powered adversaries are concerned. |

Then, of course there are ALL those CAPTOR mines we secretly sold to Taiwan, many of which have been covertly deployed between China and the independent, island nation. Others await in storage. |

They don't be "fleshed out" for several years? Seems they have an illdefined concept and no clue how to implememt it. |

Seems they have an illdefined concept and no clue how to implememt it. All grand strategies and doctrines based on new theories take time to develop and mature throughout their implementation, be it "Containment," "Flexible Response" or "AirLand Battle." To criticize them before they even have a chance to be tested and proven (or disproven) would be biased and unfair. Besides, marines are masters of half-baked improvisation, are they not? |

Well I love my USMC Bros, I'm a grad of their Basic Amphib training. But they just deactivated their 200 M1s. Sending them to depot(s), etc. The US ARMY has plenty of MBTs/AFVs. But they may not get there in time ? If at all ? However, the US has always preferred maintaining stability over chaos especially where nuclear powered adversaries are concerned. That is the only logical and realistic concept. Especially when the possibilities of tossing around WMDs could occur. |

Just another hair brained scheme an officer came up with that the next Commandant will change. The Corps will spend crap loads of money getting rid of tanks and the marines who used them and like I said another Commandant will put them back, wasting even more money to do so. |

I believe you are correct … And hope that will occur sooner than later … But until then if need be the US ARMY has plenty MBTs. 😎 |
