I've been 3D printing the base of a samurai castle that I'm making as a gift for my brother. The designed (3D Alien Worlds) hasn't released the central keep drawings but I've finished all the other sections. The keep when it's released will go in the back right corner and cover 3x3 "blocks" of the fort.

Front gate. I put a Warhammer 40k figure I had nearby to give a sense of scale.

Side view showing the courtyard and the stairs leading down to it. Eventually I'll probably print up a zen garden or tea house to drop in there.

Overview of the castle. You can see where the keep is eventually going to go.

Very nice! Do you know enough in 3d design and printing to tell me if scaling these down to 15mm or 6mm is possible? And how big the challenge would be?

Lascaris16 Oct 2020 7:49 p.m. PST

You can scale within the slicer. You don't need to worry about doing it in design software. I certainly think 15mm would be trivial. I'm not sure about 6mm as some of the details might be difficult to print. You can go to 3DAlienWorlds and post the question regarding 6mm and I'm sure the designer will give an answer.

Beautiful work!

Yea, printing at 50% – 60% of full size should be easily doable with many printers, from what I've read.

I don't own one, so can't say first-hand, but most people seem to indicate this isn't an issue.

Thanks to both of you. Yes, Lascaris, I would be interrested by 3DAlienWorlds' answer on the 28mm to 6mm scale down. Let us know, please.

I posted the question, I'll reply here if I get an answer.
