China Electronics Technology Group Corporation has unveiled a prototype of an integrated system for deploying a swarm of kamikaze UAVs that can be launched in a packet from a ground base or from a helicopter. An important feature is the action of the released UAVs in the form of a swarm.
A swarm of up to 48 kamikaze UAVs can be launched from one package. It is not difficult to imagine the impact of such complexes on the battlefield – such drones operate at a depth of 10 kilometers.
In fact, with one such vehicle, it is possible in a very short time to create a local zone where any targets from armored combat vehicles to infantry group can be subjected to serious air strikes.
The CH-901 kamikaze drone combines the advantages of a drone and a bomb and can stay aloft for 40 minutes before attacking a target. CH-901 is a portable kamikaze drone that weighs 9 kg and can be easily carried by one soldier.

The CH-901 kamikaze drone can be equipped with various warheads or a video camera to perform reconnaissance missions and detect enemy positions.
The CH-901 can fly at speeds from 7 to 120 km / h with a range of up to 10 km.

CH-901 can be armed with a fragmentation charge or HEAT warhead capable of penetrating 10 cm of armor, destroying tanks and light armored vehicles. CH-901 is capable of detecting targets at a distance of more than 1.5 km from an altitude of 450 m. The CH-901 is launched from a container and can be ready for use in less than 3 minutes.

Time to deploy an Infantry-Portable Automated Vulcan AA system…

The future. And it is properly scary.

Time to deploy an Infantry-Portable Automated Vulcan AA system…

I doubt a full platoon could hump the ammo to fend off one swarm.

It's scary to imagine what will happen when terrorists master such weapons. It's cheap, compact, easy to use and extremely effective.
Please note – the bottom photo shows this drone with a portable tube for a single launch.

Yea, just like bees or wasps, you need to take out the nests before they take flight, not afterwards.

I suspect micro-EMPs will be a real thing soon, if they aren't already, to deal with this stuff.

arealdeadone15 Oct 2020 3:16 p.m. PST

Thresher I think you're right – this will need some sort of area EMP.

There are already man portable anti-drone "rifles" as well as larger anti-drone systems that use lasers, electronic counter measures or both but I don't think they would suitable against these swarms.
