Hello everyone,

For those who do not have Facebook, I wanted to share some recent portraits found on Dr.Gorchkoff's Facebook page. We already have a famous portrait of the former Colonel Francois-Jacques-Guy Faverot de Kerbrechthe of the 15e Chasseurs a cheval wearing his uniform of the Colonel of the Haut-Rhin Hussards. The color portraits are the most recent identifications by Dr.Gorchkoff.

Hope you don't mind but I have made the pictures a bit more distinct.

Thanks Paul, saves me doing it for myself!

"Kerbrechthe"?
Michael you're confusing me with designations- these are obviously 'Empire' portraits as they're both wearing a Croix- so why the '6th' and Haut-Rhin?
Or are these a Restoration era? And therefore outside my area of interest…?

Dibble,

Those look much better! Dave as far as I am aware this is the Hussards du Haut-Rhin 1816 but the author listed it as the 6e Hussards du Haut-Rhin. I would say any after 1815 I am not well versed. Colonel Kerbrech in the regimental history of the 15e Chasseurs a cheval has a very detailed description of his orders for the regiment's uniforms in Spain.

Outside of your interest possibily, but both fought during the Empire as Dragoon officers so we get a glimspe of what the men looked liked and how they wore their uniform.

Such geographical regimental titles were re-introduced after 1815 by the Bourbons, giving names of the Departments created in 1790 instead of the old provinces

Deadhead,

Agreed. The 6 seems to be interchangeable as the second portraits brother Henri Victor PSEAUME DE ROSSELANGE who was the Major of the regiment, has one service record recorded as Hussard du Haut-Rhin and the other as Major of the 6e Regiment du Hussards.
