On the Osprey site under "Books I would like to read" is the voting for OOB books this month – Nap's 1812 army is just in 2nd place, (after another US OOB – zzzzz), so get in there and vote. (I promise to put in the Austrian bit if it is written!).

There is an interesting new survey on their site.

One question specifically mentions the tactics books appearing within the Elite series, which suggests there will be more of them – who knows, we might get the truth about Nap skirmishing!

However, they also ask about possible new series:

Hand-held weapons – design, development, use and impact on the battlefield
> Okay, no smutty humour!

Great military controversies – e.g. the what and why of the Charge of the Light Brigade
> Campaign 70 anyone?!

Key military commanders(great or otherwise) – covering their background, career, key battles, and strategies in a thorough analysis
> The Elite Comamnders series don't go well apparently, so this is surprising.

Military Atlases – key battlegrounds visually explained

Wargaming rules set – new game system covering a key period in history for taple-top miniature wargamers
> Too much competition I would have thought?

Raids, great escapes and special operations – small unit actions analysed in detail looking at all aspects of the operation – pre, during and post events

Battlefield Guides – a guide to the battlefield, a background to the battle and tourist information

Tactics – how soldiers and armies fight to pursue victory

Graphic novels – fictional accounts of the reality of war, brought to life through the eyes of the men fighting on the front lines
>Pointless as there is enough material available unless you are making something up.

I noticed that and Paddy Griffith is the author, so it will be an interesting book to read.

I kind of lost intrest in much of what paddy has to say after his book on the French rev, he did nothing but say how bad the napoleonic system was ad nauseum. He really did not add anything to the discussion on the early period of the wars so I am not holding my breath on this one.
