Hello all – I would like to tap your collective wisdom. I have recently inherited a large number of painted 15mm ACW and I would like to re-base them; previously I had based my already large number of ACW figures using thing tile as i) we had a surplus and ii) my buddy had a tile cutter. Now neither case holds so I am up for new ideas So – long question short – what is you preferred basing material for 15mm? |

I have used mount board for all bases for many years. |

3/32" Basswood. Easy to get and then cut with hobby knife. |

I use bass wood also, I learned all surfaces need to be sealed to avoid warping. |

Litko plywood bases – your choice of thickness. |

Magnetic sheet that I cut to whatever basing requirements the rules state. Use tin in the bottom of boxes for storage. I find it easier to cut magnetic sheet for stands than steel. |

Why use steel? Difficult to cut to size. Heavy!! |

Depends on how you store them. I would either use steel and store on a magnetic surface Or I would base on a magnet (like the ones you can get from Shogun) and store them in a metal box. 😀 |

I also use mount board. Easy to cut and the material is easy to paint/texture. |

Steel from Wargame Accessories. I like steel because it results in thinner bases that are more durable than other materials. |

Thick poster board or balsa wood for me. I like bases on the thick side 1/4" or 3/8"so that they are easy to pick up. But others like them thin. As everything in wargaming--"To each his own." Cheers! |

I also use picture frame mounting board. Easy to cut to any shape and size needed. I also run super glue around the edges to seal them in, then paint the edges green. That way humidity and moisture over time won't warp or fray the edges. |

I mostly use Litko 1x1 inch bases for infantry, glued to magnetic sheet with a contact adhesive. (I substitute artist's mounting board instead of Litko if the stock gets low.) I glue a bunch of bases to a sheet of magnet, and then cut out the bases, a dozen or so at a time. After gluing on the painted and sealed figures, I do the ground work, flocking, etc., and finish it off by running a black Sharpie around the four sides. |

Steel from Wargame Accessories. I spray paint the stands with interior green and after mounting the figures I flock them with a combination of N scale dirt and N scale grass using a ratio of 1 to 3 dirt to grass. |
