I didn't know such a thing was possible, but during the pandemic, I've actually been painting too much – the output is overflowing, so I had to STOP.

Never thought that would happen.

Coincidentally, my wife bought me some new mini-bookcases, so those have been assembled and added to my home office. It has been filled with a significant portion of my books, fantasy and pre-WWII historical. Which I lugged from the other side of the house. Books are heavy.

Bookcases

Now that I see the books everyday while I work at the desk, I suppose I'll be more likely to read the ones I've skipped so far. And to prune the collection.

Having moved many times I learned long ago to move books in small cartons. So much more manageable.

Maximum book box is 1.5 cubic feet of double-thickness cardboard. 1.0 cubic feet may be better, but they're hard to find.

Having moved more times than I can count (literally) I donated all my books – 60+ file boxes worth – and have been happy with the decision ever since.

I reduce the collection every once in awhile. The last big pruning was about 160 books a year or so ago. That said, I've still got a thousand books in the house.

if you need 1.0 cu ft boxes, I got a ton. They sell them at UHaul and you can bring back the ones you don't use. The ones I have use used several times are the basis of my box canyon and other terrain pieces…
