I have figures for ACW and SCW. I've mostly played ACW. It would be a hard choice between the two. ECW has been on the list for decades but I doubt it will ever get done.

David Manley09 Oct 2020 5:17 a.m. PST

All three

American Civil War followed distantly by ECW

Never played SCW, largely because no one in our group has the figs/rules – would if they did

Son of MOOG09 Oct 2020 6:23 a.m. PST

tie between ACW and ECW

John the Greater09 Oct 2020 6:45 a.m. PST

ACW. But then I live right in prime ACW territory.

I have played ECW and SCW. of the two, the Spanish Civil War has more variety.

Thomas O09 Oct 2020 7:27 a.m. PST

ECW and ACW

Huscarle09 Oct 2020 7:34 a.m. PST

Probably ECW (mainly because I have a good number of figures). I wouldn't mind doing the RCW, but I cannot afford the time or money to get into any more periods.

SCW-the wide variety of troops, tanks, airplanes and flags are interesting to me. The history is compelling too.

ACW and ECW -- have 15mm figures for both.

Jeffers09 Oct 2020 8:47 a.m. PST

ACW. First ‘proper' wargaming project. With Airfix.

ECW after because it's local.

No interest in SCW whatsoever.

ACW and ECW

Probably ACW, but the SCW has a lot of "between wars" appeal. Not interested in the ECW.

Gunther von Kessel09 Oct 2020 9:38 a.m. PST

ECW, then after a distance ACW.

Stew art Supporting Member of TMP09 Oct 2020 9:47 a.m. PST

ACW, then the ACW, and lastly the ACW.

(I really like the ACW).

Another all three man. I've got both sides for them all.

ACW.
I would definitely try the ECW.
I have no interest in the SCW at all.

Scw!

ACW and SCW. ECW just seems so 'small'

raylev309 Oct 2020 12:29 p.m. PST

Three very different kinds of eras…depends on what you want.

ACW…rifles muskets, lots of infantry. Cavalry not so much

ECW…pikes, infantry, and cavalry

SCW…automatic weapons with a few tankettes

Irish Marine09 Oct 2020 1:17 p.m. PST

ECW, then SCW.

Titchmonster09 Oct 2020 1:24 p.m. PST

ECW then ACW

ACW, mostly because I know a lot more about it than I do about the other two.

Rudysnelson09 Oct 2020 5:55 p.m. PST

ACW. I think SCW using Bolt Action would be fun.

khanscom09 Oct 2020 7:40 p.m. PST

SCW

Green Tiger09 Oct 2020 11:42 p.m. PST

ECW,SCW – I gave away my ACW but who knows – maybe in 12mm?

JimSelzer10 Oct 2020 5:56 a.m. PST

ecw

I have read that ECW is more popular in USA because its not our history We have no horse in the race and that ACW is more popular in UK for same reason. Do you think that is true?

Mike O10 Oct 2020 6:43 a.m. PST

… I wouldn't mind doing the RCW, but I cannot afford the time or money to get into any more periods.

Yes, Huscarle, perhaps the vast expansive Russian Civil War should have been included too?

EJNashIII10 Oct 2020 6:51 a.m. PST

Jim, not in the states. Frankly, most americans just are not that familiar with the ECW. Of course, I live in the heart of the eastern theater of the ACW. Everyone's great grand papa fought in the ACW.

brass110 Oct 2020 10:46 a.m. PST

SCW

ECW

ACW is last because I have lived most of life in areas where it isn't over yet.

I'm with Mike O with regard to the Russian Civil War.

ECW

Steamingdave210 Oct 2020 1:02 p.m. PST

ECW, assuming you mean the mid 17th century conflict, even though it is misnamed. Scottish armies were pretty significant, there was a lot going on in Ireland and Wales played its fair share as well. There were other "English Civil Wars" of course, rather a lot of them.
I do have ACW forces, but have too many other projects on the go to contemplate starting another, so SCW will be out of the reckoning for me.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP10 Oct 2020 1:21 p.m. PST

@Steamingdave2, at least as an American I didn't call it the "British" Civil War.

Martin Rapier11 Oct 2020 1:15 a.m. PST

I play all three, but if forced to pick just one, Spanish Civil War.

MacColla11 Oct 2020 7:32 a.m. PST

SCW in 20mm, ECW (the Scottish bit) in 28mm and ACW in 54mm.

I played an ECW game once with a man named Black, who said he liked ECW because whoever won, Englishmen died. Of course, the first thing he painted was a Scottish mercenary regiment.
