Hi,
I have a small question regarding the sash colours of the imperial army at the first battle of Breitenfeld. As far as I know it was lead by General Tilly, formed around a core veteran of Catholic Legue. On the other hand this army was led by Wallenstein for a while and as such become an official part of the imperial army.
So which sash colours are correct? Bavarian blue or imperial red? Especially Pappenheim horse might be of interest.

There were effectivly two Catholic armies at Breitenfeld, the army of Catholic League which had been commanded by Tilly from it's creation and the 'Haupt-armada' of the Imperial army which had for a time been commanded by Wallenstein. Wallenstein had_never_had any command over the troops of the Catholic Leauge and the Imperial army and the army of the CL were completely separate organisations. When Wallenstein was dismissed from service by the Diet of Regensburg 1630 Tilly was ordered to assume his position as "Obrister Feldhauptmann" of the Imperial army. A rank and position he held in addition to being the General-Leutnant of the Catholic Leauge. While there was a union of the two armies at the top due to Tilly wearing two hats on one head the armies themselves remained separate in most ways though they did serve alongside each other in the now combined "Haupt-Armada". At Breitenfeld each army would have worn their own colours, a unfied field colour would only come into play when Wallenstein re-entered service. There was no "Pappenheim horse" at Breitenfeld, Pappenheim had not had a personal regiment for some time and the regiments he commanded at Breitenfeld had no special relationship with him. |

Thank you for your insights.
But to be specific: I just wanted to know about the colours of the cavalry units under Pappenheims control. I did not ask for a specific regiment. So I want to know if they were part of the catholic league or not. And if, were they bavarian or not?
