First of all, people do. People also effect social distancing. Have you never taken, been told to take, or told others to take a sick day from work?

Sensible measures both, but we never had the government mandate them. When was the last time, outside of the recent madness, that YOU wore a mask inside OR outside? The masks are basically useless, especially the one most commonly used, the way people are using them and the kind of masks being used, hell, they are being touted as high fashion accessories!! The masks I see most commonly used are the ones I once worn when I was sanding sheetrock to keep from breathing the dust. Particle masks, not virus masks, even the surgical quality ones won't stop a virus.
We have sensible sheriff here in Marion county, he prohibited his deputies from wearing masks except in certain specific cases and no one was to enter a sheriffs office with a mask on, you can't tell the bad guys from the good guys.

When was the last time, outside of the recent madness, that YOU wore a mask inside OR outside?

Quite often, actually. However, I believe your point is about generally out and about conducting routine life activities. For that case, never.

Of course, I'm only 51, so I've also never been alive when there was a disease about with this degree of contagion and lethality.

So, I wear a mask (and goggles) when I spray paint outdoors. A mask and goggles will not completely protect me from the effects spray paint in the air. So I should not bother with them. No, because they do make a significant improvement.

The masks are basically useless

Not true. Not borne out by the data. They make a significant impact in spread of the disease.

especially the one most commonly used, the way people are using them and the kind of masks being used,

This is the argument for stricter enforcement.

you can't tell the bad guys from the good guys.

You can't tell them visually without a mask, either.

So far I have not worn a mask once, not even once, nor my kids. The majority of people in town are not wearing mask, not even the old people, actually I see far fewer old people wearing masks in my town, then young people.

I pulled my childern out of school and I am homeschooling them, not because of Corvid, but because of the schools wanting to force the Kids to wear masks, According to the Wyoming State Constitution, they do not have that Right to do that. Our Governor needs to be impeached, the Wyoming Constitution does not give him the right to do what he is doing. Fortunately the State of Wyoming is less extreme then most other states.

Look at the CDC's numbers, as of a few weeks ago, about 10,000 people died only of corvid (in USA). they rest actually died of other things. Doesnt keep them from trying to scare everyone though.

My town had the first person in the State of Wyoming to supposedly died of Corvid. BUT… according to friends of the family, he did not die of Corvid, he was fatally ill with stage 4 Cancer, and had little time left to live. He went out of state for chemo therapy, caught corvid, died of his cancer and was counted as having died of Corvid. Everybody in town knows what happened, still doesnt keep them from trying to destroy our Republic. (funny thing about it, my wifes family in China, heard about him dieing before the majority of the people in my little town heard about it)

You see, science is a funny thing, the sad thing is, science is dead, it is no longer science. It is currently science by committee, with carefully selected committee members with certain objectives in mind. Doesnt matter the subject. People have lost the ability to think, and analyze. All they know is what the idiot box and the idiot box they carry in their hand tells them to believe.

As for wargaming with out a mask…. War is not a game, as far as the mask is concerned. War is being waged on you and apparently even wargamers cant recognize the war they are in, even when they are the victums.

We all are attending work/school remotely, wear masks when we go out, get takeout everything. When family visit we sit outdoors 6-10 feet apart.

D&D groups meet virtually. Don't have any other active game groups. Not visiting local game stores; they are all tight spaces with poor ventilation.

Would attend something if it was held in well-ventilated site with social distancing available. Would wear mask. Local carpentry group have canceled 2 meetings. I met one member at his garage with both wearing masks. We had one virtual meeting.

Not buying into the mask deniers. Those making scientific arguments that masks don't do enough … if you believed that you would don more PPE (see for example Sgt Slag's post). Since you don't do that … you've convinced me you won't follow your own science, not that masks don't work.

Albus Malum +10 on everything you said! I've been a tiny voice crying out in the woods for the past 9 months (by the way wasn't this lock down, quarantine or what ever you want call it supposed to only last 2 weeks?). I've learned that when you reach a certain age very few people, especially the younger ones, pay you any heed at all.

According to the CDC as of 9/26/20, in the US, there have been 7,898,638 cases of COVID 19. There have been 218,448 deaths from COVID 19.

People with underlying conditions such as cancer are more likely to die from COVID 19. They still died from COVID 19. The underlying condition made the person more susceptible to it.

Your rights stop at the health of my family. You wear a mask to protect others. If it was just your life, then it is your choice. Your risk not mine. But it is highly contagious and can be asystematic. Then it is very much everyone's concern. Not wearing a mask is an act of selfishness.

According to the Researchers at the University of Washington's IHME between 95,000-100,000 lives could be protected from COVID-19 related deaths if 95 percent of Americans wear masks in this winter.

Science is not done by committee. Science is truth. You can believe in any fearmonger on social media, radio or TV. I will take my chances with the Scientists.

The majority of the masks that are being worn (simple square paper like fabric, blue on 1 side white on the other) are essentially useless for what they are being touted for. They are simple particle masks, not surgical masks, I used enough of them when I was around job sites where they were sanding sheetrock. They keep the dust out, not the viruses, never designed for that. Not to mention 80% of the people wearing them aren't even wearing them properly for use as a particle mask.
